“Diversity is the current state of our workforce; Inclusion is what we strive to create; Equity is our goal”
For me, this phrasing best summarizes Debbie Biddle’s work with us at Access Community Health Centers. She has made this crucial topic understandable and embraceable for our leadership and employees.
She connected easily and seamlessly with our staff—registrars, medical and dental assistants, accountants, senior leaders, professional staff including doctors, dentists and psychologists—and her message was well received.
We contracted with Debbie to work with staff, leadership and our community board of directors. She continues to distinguish herself in several important ways:
- She can work with and gain the respect of anyone regardless of their race, ethnicity, education, personal experience, skepticism toward the topic; or expertise in the field.
- She has a soothing and calming presence and presentation style. She creates a safe and comfortable setting to discuss topics that are often charged and sometimes unaccepted. She does this naturally.
- She has a way of gently redirecting people and doesn’t back down from challenge or controversy.
- She assumes the best intent in others. She listens carefully to everyone and makes sure people remain engaged in discussion.
- She has a personal story and a career path that blends so well with her profession. She is a natural at what she does.
I am a better leader and we are a better organization because of our work with Debbie. I would engage her for this work again, and give her my strongest recommendation.

The People Company Consulting Group led the Board of Directors and United Way staff through an assessment process as part of our strategic plan. As a result, we set a vision and goals to best serve our community. The leadership team also participated in The People Company Consulting Group’s Inclusion InstituteTM Certified Diversity Practitioner Program. We chose Deborah Biddle because of her knowledge, skills and volunteer service.
Based on our staff survey results, the training helped us improve employee morale and engagement, reduce unconscious biases and create a more inclusive framework for organizational decision-making and achieving results.
United Way mobilizes the community’s caring power to close gaps and open opportunities so all can thrive. We focus on the whole community and multiply impact. Learning and growth are critical to listening even more effectively and acting in ways that address and solve community inequities and strengthen our entire community.

“Deborah’s presentation style was exceptional, and helped us to better understand the importance of diversity in the workplace as well as its value to Quartz. She has a remarkable ability to lead attendees through a critical process of self-discovery, helping them to consider their own innate biases and personal strategies for overcoming them. Her dedication to the topic is clearly evident, and she is passionate about sharing her knowledge through her thought-provoking presentation and interactive discussion activities. I highly recommend Deborah as a speaker, facilitator and change agent for any company seeking to better understand Diversity & Inclusion, but more importantly, for companies wishing to make actual change in this regard.”

“Deborah Biddle is a phenomenal speaker. She has a remarkable ability to effectively present and engage audiences from diverse backgrounds and levels of experience. I was so impressed by her talent and the way she connected with audiences that I invited Deborah to be a guest speaker for our Human Resources undergraduate course. The students gave Deborah rave reviews and even mentioned that she was a favorite speaker. I heartily endorse her for any speaking role! Deborah is also reliable, dedicated, upbeat and inspirational. Audiences can gain so much from her knowledge and from the vast array of topics, along with her incredible years of experience and raw talent. We would all be lucky to have Deborah as an event speaker.

“Debbie is a wonderful resource and instructor. She came into my organization and ran multiple sessions for a broad audience. The feedback I received most was how welcoming and inclusive she is. She is able to talk about complex and often sensitive topics in a way that makes everyone feel safe and able to contribute, whether they are completely new to the ideas of diversity and inclusion or they have been involved in the work for some time. She is incredibly knowledgeable and uses language that reflects all types of diversity, not just a few. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to bring a D&I resource into their organization!”

“Deborah Biddle invited us to step into discomfort to explore the trials of women in leadership. Deborah is a highly anticipated return Keynote Speaker at the City of Madison’s 2019 Women’s Leadership Series, Living the Vision: Inclusive, Innovative & Thriving where she delivered a thought-provoking workshop about the Double Bind. Deborah is gifted at intentionally creating safe spaces for reflection; and effectively leveraging data, storytelling and scenarios to demonstrate the hard truths and differential experiences of women in the workplace in order to create more inclusive organizations.”
