Karlyn is passionate about racial equity and social justice, particularly related to segregation and other racialized housing disparities, and the racial wealth gap between Black and white families. To that end, Karlyn has created and led DEI initiatives in the workplace, including forming employee discussion groups and creating a speaker series in partnership with Macalester College to connect BIPOC students with BIPOC Economics alumni.
Karlyn is pursuing a masters degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning at the University of Colorado Denver to advance her goal of dismantling racist housing and employment systems. She is a graduate of Macalester College, where she earned a B.A. in Economics with a minor in Geography.
